Hexis Racing buoyed by qualifying race pace

Both Hexis Racing’s McLaren produced a strong qualifying race on a sunny but windy Saturday at the Autodromo Internacional Algarve. The car #1 driven by Stef Dusseldorp at the start recovered from 12th to 9th when a safety-car procedure began following the retirement of one of the Lamborghinis. Racing resumed just when the pit window opened. A charging Fred Makowiecki made his way through the field to finish 4th. “The chequered flag came a bit too early, I just needed one more lap to possibly place an attack to try to demote Oliver Jarvis’ Audi from third” said the Frenchman after the race. The #2 McLaren started 8th and finished 8th after action-packed stints by Alvaro Parente, the local heroe, and Grégoire Demoustier, the young rookie. In fact, the race as a whole was full of spectacular moves which prove the quality of the show offered by the FIA GT1 World Championship.

Hexis Racing’s Team Principal Philippe Dumas was satisfied overall and confident for tomorrow’s Championship Race, which is to take place at 2:15 local time. “We are well placed on tomorrow’s grid. In this World Championship, it’s all about Sunday’s race. We managed to save new tyres for “D-Day”.”
