Hexis Racing recovered from disappointing 6th and 16th positions on the grid to take a splendid “one-two” in the qualifying race of the third round of the FIA GT1 World Championship. In the Navarra sunset, Alvaro Parente made up four places at the start and took advantage of a slight contact between the Porsche and the Ford GT ahead of his no2 McLaren to lead into Turn 1. He pulled away and managed to build a gap of more than 10 seconds to… Stef Dusseldorp! The no1 McLaren driver also drove an impressive stint to gain 14 places. The team, too, did a fantastic job during the pitstop phase. The rookie Greg Demoustier and the experienced Fred Makowiecki swapped positions during the second half of the one-hour race to offer the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 its first World Championship one-two. Tomorrow Sunday at 12:45, the team will do its best to repeat its performance in the championship race.
