The two Hexis McLarens ran a superb qualifying race at Zolder. The #1and 2 entries were 10th and 15th on the grid respectively. The race started on a wet but drying track. Stef Dusseldorp at the wheel of the #1 car and Alvaro Parente in the #2 played it safe in early stages, but soon started to make up places. All the teams decided to switch to slick tyres during the mandatory pitstops, except the two Audis. Fred Makowiecki drove a stunning stint to finish 4th a few tenths behind the fastest Porsche. Despite running wide with two laps to go, Grégoire Demoustier took the flag in 10th place. “We thought the track would dry up quicker, but we are fully satisfied with the result” said team-manager Philippe Dumas.
